Honoring a Legacy of Leadership and Advocacy
In 2026, the clinic was renamed the George Sachs Multidisciplinary ALS Clinic in honor of Dr. George Sachs, the founding neurologist and longtime medical director whose vision and leadership helped establish specialized ALS care in Rhode Island. Dr. Sachs worked alongside ALS Rhode Island, healthcare professionals, patients, and families to create a multidisciplinary care model that has served Rhode Islanders for more than 25 years.

The clinic also proudly honors Louise Wilcox, an accomplished chef, cookbook author, and ALS advocate whose determination helped make the clinic possible. After experiencing the benefits of multidisciplinary care firsthand, Louise became a driving force behind bringing that same level of care to Rhode Island families. Her advocacy and vision were instrumental in inspiring the creation of the clinic.
Today, the clinic conference room continues to bear her name as a testament to her enduring legacy.

The progression of ALS varies significantly from one person to another. Responding to each person's individual needs, our organization is available to provide vital services and reliable information through strategic community partnerships.

Register with us to access free, personalized services—available to all individuals living with ALS, regardless of insurance coverage or immigration status.

Once registered, you’ll meet with our Care Services Team, who will work closely with you to identify your current needs and plan for future support. Research shows that people with ALS who receive comprehensive, individualized care often experience a significantly improved quality of life.
